All right, all right, all right, (said in my best Matthew McConaughey impression) it’s time to get started on writing this damn book. [Side note, this photo is just like how I write! I think the photographer used me as inspiration because I always write in an uncomfortable chair with a plant attacking me while I balance my laptop on my crossed legs. OR, I sit at a desk in an ergonomic chair with a pillow and a footrest. (Or I stand at my standing desk—I’m a crazy girl!) I wear pajamas and wrist guards because real pants hinder creativity and I have arthritis.]
I always like to start as close to the beginning of a month. (I’m not sure why, but I’m guessing there are lots of therapists out there who can tell me what that’s all about.) So, it’s time to get started on Living with People I Want to Punch in the Throat (final title and pub date TBD).
I don’t have a publishing date in mind yet, but that will come as we make progress. Sometimes I set a hard and fast deadline for myself, but lately, I’ve been unable. I have other projects I’m working on that do have hard deadlines, so I’m working this into my schedule. Plus, there are too many unknowns with Adolpha’s health. Some weeks I can be super productive and other weeks she needs my attention. At this point, my tentative goal is to be done with the first draft of this book by January 2023.
If you decide to join me for the whole process you’ll be able to:
Participate in ideas. (Tell me what’s working and what’s not working.)
Finalize the title and the subtitle (must use the word “scourges” for consistency and should be a long mouthful because short subtitles are for important books).
Help me pick a cover design. (This is always fun because I have no idea what I want but I know what I DON’T want. My designer loves me.)
Edits.
More edits.
Ugh, a few more edits and probably a rewrite in there somewhere.
Work on the marketing plan. (Speaking of marketing plan, have you left me a review on the books that you’ve read? It’s crazy how much those reviews help.)
See all the behind-the-scenes shit that goes on. (There will be a weekend where I do nothing but organize my pantry. But get excited because that kind of procrastination means we’re close to finishing the book!)
And a bunch of other stuff I can’t think of right now!
Ready? Cool! Scroll down for Part One!
