My youngest (15) son just told me that he was always terrified of our elf (Tiny) but never showed it because he was afraid he wouldn’t get toys from Santa! Eeek… so all those nights I jumped out of bed at 3 AM because I woke up and remembered that I forgot to move the elf was really just perpetuating trauma in at least one of my kids! I never did anything crazy with them like make messes, etc. because as you’ve pointed out most of us, don’t have that kind of energy … or insanity? But still, any energy I did put forth was apparently in vain! Tiny never made my boys behave better anyway. On Christmas Eve they were often scribbling out “sorry” notes to Santa. And, Santa would respond with, “What happened boys? Tiny had to go on vacation right away!” Anyway, for years I’ve still put him out just for fun, but not move him much… Now that I know my 15-year-old still thinks he’s completely creepy. I think I’ll just stop! Lol.

Honest question: Aren't your kids a bit too old for Elf on the Shelf? I thought that was for little kids, pre-teens max?
