Totally, 10000000% agree

I think the ship should've told those 8 to fuck off when they caught up at the next port, too.

That’s why I went to a local beach, I didn’t see how the tour could’ve made it to a pyramid and back in time unless everybody rushed around there.

Completely agree that they should be left behind! I have taken a couple cruises, and we book through the cruise line for excursions every time. We are not taking any chances booking through a 3rd party or even exploring on our own.

There shouldn't be a debate, they were given the rules of the off-cruise island excursion. They didn't meet those and there are consequences for not following the rules given. They ruined their own vacations.

I have been on a lot of cruises and call me a Bitch, but I always get back in plenty of time, find me a nice seat and cold beverage where I can see the cruise ship dock and watch all the late folks running to the ship. Some of the most fun I have on the cruise. And yes on several of those cruises people have been left behind and those of us on time did NOT feel bad.

Ships don't pick arbitrary times for departure. Tide schedules, docking times at the next port, etc. How happy would everyone be if they missed the tide, had to wait long enough that they screwed up docking and the entire ship missed their next day in port because of those idiots.

This is the world we live in now. I'm a medical provider and so many of my patients think their appointment time is just a suggestion. They show up whenever they feel like it and get angry when I won't see them. if i see late arrivals, then the people who do come on time complain that they had to wait. I have ZERO sympathy for these cruise ship slackers.

I'll bet they are never late again. 🤣🤣

And they will sue, probably leading to no one being ale to get off the ship for anything but a ship sponsored event.

I'm with you and agree with all of your arguments, except, in this case, I was JUST on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship in January and NEVER AGAIN. The ship sucked, the single stop was actually much less nice than any local park I would see at home, and the customer service was appalling. My roommates and I actually spent the entire first night on the ship in line at the front desk attempting to resolve an issue they initially told us could not be fixed until hours of waiting, going over receipts, and shouting.

So when I heard this story on the news, and then heard that the cruise line was NCL, I thought, "I fucking knew they were assholes," and immediately felt for the people left behind. 😂😂😂😂

We stopped in Civitavecchia on a cruise through the Med. This port is a 50 minute high-speed train ride into Rome. We got back to the ship on time but then the crew starting paging four passengers, all with the same last name. So, obviously, they were a family and they were missing. Everyone was hanging over the balconies on the port side, watching the captain pace back and forth below, as the departure clock tick down the minutes. With mere moments to go, an Italian taxi screams onto the dock and screeches to a halt in front of the ship. Four people pile out; two adults and two kids. Mom and the kids run for the gangway. Dad throws many Euros at the driver. Then he shakes the captain's hand. We all cheer. Up anchor and away we go! I saw her later at dinner and she explained they missed their train and had to cab it from Rome back to the ship. I didn’t ask how much it cost. 😳😳😳

The ONLY passenger I have sympathy for missing the boat is the woman who was in the hospital because she got injured doing an activity. Unfortunately, no one informed the boat of where she was and what happened, so she too, through NO fault of her own, was left behind.

I LOVE taking excursions directly from operators (more of my money stays with the operators and local economy) instead of getting excursions through the ship. BUT we ALWAYS make sure we are back no later than 1 hr before last call AND we always have ID (like take our passport cards instead of passport book {yes, I know restrictions on usage, but something is better than nothing}) and usable credit cards with us when off ship.

Like, if your tour is running late, don’t rely on just the operator calling the ship and continue to be late. Cut the excursion short. Make sure you get back on time.

Want even something I thot about. Knew it was Americans (at least some on them). Don't know if they are part of the 1% but these days I'm just torqued at the q percents who jump thru loopholes so they don't have to pay their fair share and there are people, KIDS, starving in this country. (like how I looped people late to a cruise ship to hungry children? I'm good like that. (or just so tired from so much emotional exhaustion... I know your can relate... That my brain is dancing)
