We can't have decent health insurance because that's bleeding Socialism and we can't have that!

"Hey, doc, if people can pay for CGMs for their dogs and cats, they can probably find the money to do it for their beloved relatives." Betcha that physician doesn't realize dogs/cats wear the same CGMs that people do. [sigh] Unfortunately, wanta bet that family doesn't have access to a different physican within reasonable distance? Some places are limited in their choice of doctors, which makes it all worse.

The things I could tell you about my experiences with the VA.

The big health insurance companies need to be able to buy back stocks and give their shareholders bigger dividends from doing it and giving their CEOs huge bonuses. They can't pay for sick members even after they paid all those premiums.

We can't tax the rich! One of these days their wealth is supposed to trickle down to the rest of us... I mean it's been over 40 years and still hasn't happened yet.

Seriously, though it's irritating that they want to put a train on the moon, when we can't even get decent railway improvements here. California was supposed to have a bullet train by now. Nothing happened with that.

Total insanity!

And I’ve bought all your books, BTW…that’s why I’m here!

I can’t use the subways in NYC, where I was born, and where my adult daughter now lives, because they are inaccessible to disabled people. We've had the ADA since 1989, but there will be trains on the moon before I can get on and off the subway at every station. Or even 1/2 of the stations.

Government has no right to be in health care, education, and a thousand other things it sticks its big nose into and feeds.

Insurance companies are a racket. Take out all the government regulations, taxes, and licenses and watch the prices of medical care come back down to realistic levels as they were 80- 100 years ago.

Medical care is much cheaper in many other countries compared to the USA.

Socialism always fails. Crony capitalism (fascism) is the order of the day today. Even China has gone this route.

Sweden has a better free market economy than the USA and Sweden has good health care. Sweden isn't trying to put a train on the moon. Sweden also didn't lock down during Covid or have mask mandates or close the schools.

If you want the socialism that Sweden has (socialism lite) start there.

Fuckin’ amazing take on the health care situation and corporate taxing. Best article and I like them all, you’ve written. I have gotten so sick of dealing with corporate entities, all they do is recycle you from one hopelessly worthless employee to another. Each one refers you back to the first naysayer. None of them listen to anything you have to say. I feel patronized and helpless. I’m having physical symptoms at the thought of dealing with any of them. Each phone call to my insurance company lasted a minimum of 45 minutes, with being transferred. I wonder if they sit together at their desks and laugh their asses off. They apologize prodigiously! Do they watch each other as they refer you back-and-forth from one to another? And then there’s the phone company insurance! Oh my God, the runaround there. I actually have PTSD, post telephone stress disorder from trying to deal with my daughter’s phone insurance. Assurant, (kinda like “I sure ain’t “ gonna fix that phone!)

I will eventually have to approach them again, with legal assistance of some sort, but it gives me hives just thinking about it. 900 bucks ain’t chump change. They came up with the bullshit reason why they won’t pay me. At first they tried to deny I even had insurance, but I pointed out that I paid $28 a month for a year and a half, then they came up with a bunch of other half-ass reasons.😡😤🤬😖. In the end, it’s clear customer care doesn’t care about you anymore. The customer is never right.

If I remember correctly the manufacturer of the CGM offer it for free. Google it. I work for UHC and help serverly I'll people fight to have life saving medication authorized. It is fucking crazy on how pharma gets away with charging $22,000 dollars for one cancer fighting injection . I work with the Small business policys that cost the mbrs a small fortune and the majority of them require Prior Authorizations for high cost drugs. I truly feel for everyone.

We are the only(democratic? ... Don't remember the right word) country without universal healthcare. We should be ashamed. My current big anger is the 1% who find hula hoops(loop holes) to not pay their fair share. There is no reason that anyone in the country should be hungry, without a home, without access to quality healthcare, without access to medication and other medical necessities. People could feed and support their families at a 40 hour s week job. Just so so so much. My stomach hurts most of the time these days worrying about the people in this country and so many others.

It was easier (at least for me) to have good health insurance before Obama care came along as I always had it through hubby's employer. First month after Obama care started, his company went with insurance with a $10,000 deductible and prescriptions went to deductible. My BP pills, because my bottom number is the problem, only had one drug, which was so new, there was no generic. Cost of ins. was $775 a mth and my on med was over $400. It more than tripled what we had ever paid per mth or for a script. Hubby made $101,000 with me and 2 kids, so it was not because we made a lot of money. Now since hubby is 9 yrs older, he has Medicare, I have none, and because I need my hip and knee replaced, getting just insurance off the gov. site would do me no good.

I haven't heard about this train, probably because I live in AZ and there's really too much bullshit happening here to even read the "sci-fi" news. I started getting an eyelid twitch. My husband keeps telling me that the abortion issue will actually help during the election, but I can't stop thinking how unattractive I'm going to look in 1800s clothing when the whole country reverts back to that. 1800s or Middle ages...either one, clothes were not flattering for short chubby women...All joking aside, am I the only one that feels like we're living through a scary movie?

The thing is, a CGM IS covered by Medicare! I've been a Type 1 for 36 years, am on Social Security Disability, and have Medicare and a CGM. Yes, there's a co-pay, but I wouldn't be without it for any amount of money after a low almost killed me 8 years ago in my sleep.
